Did YOU get an iPad? Tell me how you use it
Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 3:50PM OK, the iPad buzz is getting pretty heavy and almost unbearable.
I want to know how REAL people like you are using it and if it lives up to your expectations.
Did you find a use you never imagined?
Do you find the display easy to read for extended periods of time?
How is it more than just a big iPhone to you?
Does the battery last as long as you need it to?
What would YOU like to be able to with your iPad that you can't now?
Please leave your thoughts as comments below.
Thank you!
George
Love to hear it, Mike! Just today I learned you can even plug a USB mic into the camera adapter and record directly into it! It's just getting better and better. The Shure X2u should work perfectly with it, I can almost guarantee. And when it can multitask, I'll hop onboard the bandwagon for sure. Now to develop a voice-over specific iPad app that can display copy you can scroll with one finger, make script changes, all as you monitor your recording levels in the lower 3rd of the screen.
Look at all the stuff you can plug into this thing.

George,
I'm in love with my iPad. I didn't mean to get one, but the wife and I are traveling this summer, and decided that it would be a good thing to have for many, many, many hours on planes and trains...
Well, I found an unintended use for it...script reading in my Manhattan studio.
At the moment, I'm lucky enough to have two studios...my home version in Brooklyn, and one in Manhattan.
Well, one day, I took the iPad into work with me...and it just so happens, my printer decided to die. I needed to read a few pieces of copy that had just come in, and so I figured out I could share my laptop's internet connection via the Airport card...quickly created a wireless network for my iPad to connect to...
Scripts popped up in email, I took the iPad into the booth...and I was off to the races.
It is PERFECT for script reading...and soon, I'm going to get the Studio Control 7 for $9.99 to use it to wirelessly control ProTools from the booth. However, I'll probably wait until it can multi-task before I do that...
